Weight Loss
We wholeheartedly believe that the billion-dollar diet industry has wrecked out mental and physical health and have disembodied us. Restrictive diets have been scientifically proven to cause weight gain and disordered eating.
We believe that your body has a happy place, a “set point” that it effortlessly maintain by responding to your body’s eating cues and moving joyfully and regularly. That this set point is individual and rarely matches society’s ideal body weight or BMI.
We believe your story – society’s crushing pressure to be a specific size; the discomfort of a changing, ageing body, the intuitive feeling that something might be imbalanced (inflammation, water retention, GI health, hormones?) and not knowing what to do about it.
We believe that intentional weight loss, via restriction of any kind (calories, time, carbs, etc.) is counter effective and is off the table.
We offer a sympathetic ear, self-compassion exercises, an explanation of normal body changes, tools for reconnecting with and listening to your body, and tools for cultivating body-honoring and nourishing habits — all in the spirit or self-compassionate ownership.
As you implement these tools, your body will gravitate towards its happy weight in its time. This may be higher or lower than your current weight or your expectation, but it is a peaceful place and a worthwhile journey.
Many insurances pay for consultations with our nutritionists. You may now have access to reasonably priced medical nutrition therapy and treatment if you are suffering from an eating disorder or are at risk for developing a chronic illness.
Several insurance plans are in-network with us. We will work with your insurance company to see if your consultation is a covered benefit.
